1.GRAVITY THAT'S NOT A THING IN SPACE
It is indeed a biggest myth you see astronauts floating in space and thus reach to the point that no gravity in space.Actually , you see them floating because of weightlessness which is different from gravity.So, there is no reason to blame it on gravity.Here are the
/truth:
a.Anywhere mass and space exist, gravity exists. Gravity is the curvature
of spacetime due to the presence of mass. The gravitational influence
from the Sun that keeps the Earth in orbit around the Sun is felt
equally by the astronauts in space. The gravitational influence from the
Earth that keeps the Moon and the ISS in Earth orbit is also felt by
the astronauts floating inside and outside the spacecraft. If these
influences were not felt, the astronauts would not stay in orbit.
b.At the altitude the astronauts in the ISS inhabit, the gravitational influence from the Earth is 8.75 m/s^2. That is only about 11% less than the 9.81 m/s^2 felt by you and me, on the Earth’s surface.
c.You see them as weightless and appear to float because they are in freefall. A spacecraft in Earth orbit is falling towards the Earth (because of gravity) but also moving forward at a speed high enough that the path traveled isn’t straight down, but instead a curve that circles the Earth.The astronaut is falling and so is their spacecraft. If both are falling, there is no force of one against the other and thus no sensation of weight.
2. ASTEROIDS IMPACTS ON EARTH ARE RARE
Infact that's a good one but for real asteroids hits on earth are very common but it always gets unnoticed by you until the massive one like that lead to extinction would come.
Don't get panic, the one like extinction are indeed rare.But meteroites that impact earth regularly usually get disintegrated to pieces upto the size of sand paricle.
a.In fact, it is estimated that 37 to 78 thousands tonnes of space debris fall to Earth every year. Of that, an estimated 100 tonnes of sand-sized particles fall to Earth every day!
b. Large proportion of debris tends to consist of little asteroids (meteorites) called bolides that impact the Earth's atmosphere frequently. These are generally between 1 and 20 m in diameter.
